Lake City Parks & Gardens
The Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park is located roughly 100 mi (161 km) east of Tallahassee, Florida. Stephen Foster was a 19th century composer who is responsible for Old Folks at Home, a song that mentions the Suwannee River and has long been considered Florida's State Song. Working craftspeople can be seen at this park creating art in a traditional fashion. The museum and gift shop are open from 9am to 5pm daily.
Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park can be found roughly 12 miles east of Lake City, FL. This park preserves the memory of the state's largest Civil War battle; a battle re-enactment is held every February to commemorate this event. Olustee Park is also located next to Osceola State Forest, and visitors are invited to avail themselves of all the activities and attractions offered at Osceola when stopping at Olustee State Park.
